Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7640A internal 12.5mm slot loading PATA superdrive. This drive is suitable for use in the Intel iMacs produced up to the end of 2008 and which were originally fitted with a Sony NEC drive. This drive has a 25mm pickup distance making it suitable for use in the Aluminium iMacs ranges (2007/2008). While it can be used to replace an aluminium iMac drive from a different manufacturer, this will either require the purchase of a matching optical bezel or the existing bezel will have to me trimmed to accommodate the the Sony NEC drive.
