The iPad 8th generation was originally released in 2020 as a replacement for the iPad 7th generation. The iPad 8th generation featured a six-core 2.5GHz Apple A12 Bionic SoC with an embedded M12 motion coprocessor equipped with 256KB of L1 cache (128KB instruction + 128KB data) and 8MB of L2 cache, 3GB of LPDDR4 memory and a quad-core Apple GPU. The iPad 8th generation could be configured with 32GB or 128GB of flash storage, Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity and was available in Space Gray, Silver and Gold finishes.
The iPad 8th generation featured a 10.2” LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch 2,160x1620 (264 ppi) display with support for the 1st generation Apple Pencil, Touch ID built into the home button, support for Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual channel (2.4GHz and 5GHz) networks, Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G networks (region dependant), 3.5mm headphone jack, dual microphones, dual stereo speakers, smart connector and lightning connector. The iPad 8th generation has two cameras a front 1.2mega-pixel FaceTime camera capable of 720p HD video recording and a rear 8-megapixel camera with support for up to 1080p HD video recording at 30fps or slo-mo support for 720p at 120fps. The iPad 7th generation has a built-in 32.4Wh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery capable of up to 10 hours of battery life.
