The iPad 4 was originally released in 2012 as a replacement for the iPad 3 just eight months after the latter’s release. The iPad 4 featured a dual-core 1.4GHz Apple A6X SoC with 64KB of L1 cache (32KB instruction + 32KB data) and 1MB of L2 cache, 1GB of LPDDR2 memory and a quad-core PowerVR GPU. The iPad 4 could be configured with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of flash storage, Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity and was available in black and white finishes.
The iPad 4 featured a 9.7” LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch 2,048x1536 (264 ppi) display, support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G networks (region dependant), 3.5mm headphone jack and lightning connector. The iPad 4 would be the first iPad to use the lightning connector. The iPad 4 has two cameras a front 1.2MP FaceTime camera capable of 720p HD video recording and a rear 5MP iSight camera capable of 1080p HD video recording. The iPad 3 has a built-in 42.5Wh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery capable of up to 10 hours of battery life.
