The iPad mini 6th generation was originally released in 2021 and was a replacement for the iPad mini 5th generation. The iPad mini 6th generation marked the iPad mini’s biggest re-design since its initial release in 2012. The iPad mini 6th generation has all aluminium enclosure with rounded corners and an edge-to-edge screen, the design is identical to the iPad Pro ’s and iPad Air’s released from 2018, barring some minor design tweaks to suit the smaller housing unit.
The iPad mini 6th generation featured a six-core 3.2GHz Apple A15 Bionic SoC with a 16-core Neural Engine equipped with 128KB of L1 cache (64KB instruction + 64KB data) and 8MB of L2 cache, 4GB of LPDDR4X memory and a five-core Apple GPU. The iPad mini 6th generation could be configured with 64GB or 256GB of flash storage, either Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity and was available in Space Gray, Pink, Purple and Starlight Gold finishes.
The iPad mini 6th generation featured a fully laminated 8.3” LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch 2,2466x1,488 (326 ppi) Liquid Retina True Tone display with 500 nits peak brightness with support for 2nd generation Apple Pencil, Touch ID integrated into the top button, support for Wi-Fi 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6; simultaneous dual channel (2.4GHz and 5GHz) networks, Bluetooth 5.0 and 5G networks (region dependant), dual microphones, dual stereo speakers, smart connector and a USB-C port supporting charging, DisplayPort and USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5Gb/s). The iPad mini 6th generation cellular models also have a Nano-Sim tray. The iPad mini 6th generation has two cameras a front 12-mega-pixel Ultra Wide camera with 122°c field of view with support for Centre Stage and Cinematic video stabilisation for both 1080p and 720p. The front camera is capable of 1080p HD video recording up 25fps, 30fps or 60fps and has extended dynamic range for video up to 30fps. The iPad mini 6th generation also has a rear 12-megapixel Wide camera with support for up to 4K video recording at 24fps, 23fps, 30fps or 60fps, 1080p HD at 25fps, 30fps or 60fps, 720p HD at 30fps and slo-mo support at 1080 at 120fps or 240fps. The rear camera also featured Quad-LED True Tone flash, continuous autofocus and Cinematic video stabilisation at 4K, 1080p and 720p. The iPad mini 6th generation has a built in 19.3Wh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery capable of up to 10 hours of battery life when surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video content.
