The iPad Air 5th generation was originally released in 2021 as a replacement for the iPad Air 4th generation. The iPad Air 5th generation was the first iPad Air to featured Apples 5nm M1 SoC comprised of four 3.2GHz high-performance cores and four 2.1GHz high-efficiency cores equipped with 320KB of L1 cache (192KB instruction + 128KB data), 12MB of L2 cache, shared between the 4 high-performance cores and 192KB of L1 cache (128KB instruction + 64KB data), 4MB of L2 cache shared between the 4 high-efficiency cores, 16-core Neural Engine, 8GB of unified memory and an eight-core Apple GPU. The iPad Air 5th generation could be configured with 64GB or 256GB of flash storage, Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity and was available in Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple and Blue finishes.


The iPad Air 5th generation featured a 10.9” LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch 2,3604x1,640 (264 ppi) Liquid Retina display with support for up to 2nd generation Apple Pencil, Touch ID integrated into the top button, support for Wi-Fi 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 simultaneous dual channel (2.4GHz and 5GHz) networks, Bluetooth 5.0 and 5G networks (region dependant), dual microphones, dual stereo speakers, smart connector and USB-C connector. The iPad Air 5th generation has two cameras a front 12mega-pixel ultra wide FaceTime camera capable of 1080p HD video recording with 122° field of view, and a rear 12-megapixel wide camera with support for up to 4K video recording at 24fps, 30fps or 60fps, 1080p HD video recording at 25fps, 30fps or 60fps, 720p HD video recording at 30fps and slo-mo video support at 1080p at 120fps or 240fps. The iPad Air 5th generation has a built-in 28.6Wh rechargeable lithium-polymer battery capable of up to 10 hours of battery life.
