The MacBook Pro 13” was first released in June 2009 and was the first ‘Pro’ laptop that Apple had made in the smaller 13” form factor. The 13” version of the MacBook Pro has always been Apple’s ‘entry’ level Pro notebook and due to the smaller form factor and increased portability compared to the 15” versions; it has proven to be a very popular choice for most average users who want a small portable cost-effective Apple laptop. During the lifespan of the MacBook Pro 13” the design was changed twice times; the original ‘Unibody’ design shipped from 2009 up until 2012 when Apple would overhaul the design of their MacBook Pro line-up. Apple opted for a thinner lighter unibody design with brand new ’Retina’ display, this design revision would ship from 2012 until 2015 as Apple would once again update the design of the MacBook Pro line-up. In 2016 the MacBook Pro line-up featured a more Flat-Edged design, and the 'Retina' moniker was dropped.
