The iPod touch was Apple’s 5th and last product line within the iPod family, the original iPod touch was launched on September 5th 2007 with the 7th generation and last generation of iPod launching on May 28th 2019. Apple officially discontinued the 7th generation iPod touch on May 10th 2022, thus bringing an end to the iPod family as a whole. Over the course of 15 years Apple released seven generations of the iPod touch, each generation was designed based off of the design of the corresponding iPhone of the same year. The iPod touch took the whole philosophy of the original iPod and scaled it up past a device simply able to store and play music, videos or browse photos and became a device beloved by many with features such as cameras, Bluetooth, iMessage and FaceTime becoming standard on later generations. Allowing consumers to have a similar experience to that of an iPhone just without the cellular aspect of a phone. The iPod touch allowed more people to express themselves with the 5th generation and later devices being available in a variety of colours much like Apple’s other iPod models at the time.
