The Apple Watch was first announced in 2014 at during Apple’s September event by Tim Cook and would later go on sale in April 2015. This was Apples first wearable smart device and actually Apples third Apple Watch. Apples very first Apple Watch was actually all the way back in 1995 and was an optional promotional gift to those who purchased System 7.5. Apple would then release another unique watch during the 1998 'Think Different' campaign. The unique feature about this Apple Watch is that both the hands and numbers ran counter-clockwise. Apple would then finally revive the Apple Watch range 20 years after the first Apple Watch was released.

The Apple Watch (1st generation) AKA Series 0 was released in 2015 and would feature Apples first ’S’ range SoC’s, it would have a single-core processor and only 8GB of storage of which only 2GB was accessible for users to store music or photos on. It would also feature a heart rate sensor. The Apple Watch was designed to be paired with an iPhone and once paired users could check their messages and accept phone calls without the need to get their phone out. As of 2021 there have been nine generations of the Apple Watch with multiple variants available. Apple explains that the Apple Watch is "an incredibly accurate timepiece, an intimate and immediate communication device and a groundbreaking health and fitness companion".
