This is a used and fully tested hard drive taken from a recycled iBook or PowerBook. The testing process on this drive involves checking the built-in diagnostics, formatting the disk and cloning a 6GB disk image of a clean instal of OSX 10.4.8 onto it. If the cloning works without abnormal pausing or noise then the drive is used to boot a test machine
