This is an Apple original HGST/Hitachi 500GB 5,400rpm 2.5" Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive with rubber frame.
Please note the following three pieces of information.
This hard drive will come with a preinstalled operating system of macOS 10.8.2 or later.
If this drive is fitted to a late 2012 or later 21.5" unlike the 27" ranges of iMac the 21.5" does not suffer from the same runaway fan issue and therefore any 2.5" hard drive can be fitted to the machine.
Please note that these hard drives were originally designed for the 21.5" 2012 and later ranges however they can be fitted to any of the machines stated below. If the drive is being fitted to any other machine other than an iMac 21.5" 2012 or later the rubber border will first need to be removed.
