The iPod nano 6th generation was originally released in September 2010. The iPod nano 6th generation featured a Samsung ARM-based SoC. The iPod nano 6th generation could be configured with 8GB or 16GB of embedded flash storage and was available in blue, green, graphite orange, pink, (PRODUCT) Red, and silver finishes. The (PRODUCT) Red finish was an Apple store exclusive and was only available for purchase through Apple’s website or a retail Apple store. The iPod 6th generation received a radical redesign compared to all previous generations of iPod. The iPod 6th generation was the smallest and lightest iPod nano that Apple produced. Focusing solely on music playback and Multi-Touch over anything else. Featuring a much smaller but higher resolution display, weighing in at only 21.1g and being 37.5mm in height, 40.9mm in width and 8.78mm in depth. The iPod nano 6th generation did lose some of the features that its predecessor included such the rear camera, voice recorder and speaker. It also lost support for video playback but did retain the Nike fitness option and FM radio tuner along with the accelerometer. Apple did also sell 3rd party watch straps for the iPod nano 6th generation; potentially a precursor for the Apple Watch which would arrive in 2015.
The iPod nano 6th generation featured a 1.54-inch (diagonal) 240x240 pixels (220 ppi) colour TFT Multi-Touch display, 3.5mm headphone jack, 30-pin dock connector and support for FM radio with “live pause”. The iPod 6th generation was powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery, capable of up to 24 hours of music playback.
