The iPod nano 3rd generation was originally released in September 2007. The iPod nano 3rd generation featured a Samsung ARM-based SoC. The iPod nano 3rd generation could be configured with 4GB or 8GB of embedded flash storage and was available in black, blue, green, pink, red and silver finishes. Due to the similaralities of the design to that of the standard iPod devices the iPod nano 3rd generation earned the moniker as being a “Fat iPod”. The iPod 3rd generation was much smaller in stature to the previous iPod nano models being only 69.8mm tall and weighing 49.2g a slight increase compared to the previous iPod nano 2nd generation despite being smaller.
The iPod nano 3rd generation featured a 2-inch (diagonal) 320x240 pixels (204 ppi) colour LCD with LED backlight, 3.5mm headphone jack and 30-pin dock connector. The iPod 3rd generation was powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery, capable of up to 24 hours of music playback and up to 5 hours of video playback.
